Epilogue - The Last Snow

During the Winter immediately after John had defeated Donofrey and become the High Champion, the group began to search for other Champions in Selene. Sam had returned from the South and brought with him, the Mirror from the cave in Estahker. It became known to them as the Celestial Mirror as they found it created light when shined back at the Moon or the Sun. They discovered that this light could be used to locate Champions. With the Mirror they were able to locate the first 13 Champions in Selene. (see Sophia's Mirror)

Sam wished to learn more about the difficulties of using Powers and looked to help them better understand their limits, just as he had done with Aletheia. He understood that superpowers had adverse side effects on Champions and Sam saw it as a means to help them. John and Aletheia saw it as an opportunity to identify and guide Champions to realize their full potential. Identifying them and earning their trust would also cultivate an alliance between them that had since been missing. The King considered it a benefit as it would also allow them to know what potentially dangerous powers were located around Selene.

Reflections

The first scene will be an epilogue of sorts. It will take place as Spring is approaching and the snow has melted. This is the reason that the next time skip is called Equinox.

John is watching a street play with some families about his rescue of Aletheia and the Black Jester's Defeat. He is approached by Sam who indicates that Aletheia has summoned them. John reluctantly complies, stating that he really wanted to see how the play turns out. John has already become a hero of Selene and word has begun to travel across the land of his deeds. The people have already taken a liking to him as he often walks the streets of the city as the Noble Champion, interacting with the people of the city. He also chooses not to hide his face just like the Lunar Guardian. However, there are already stories about his adventures in the south and his exploits are becoming increasingly exaggerated. While he tries to discourage the grander tales, he has become accustomed to people looking up to him despite his humble attitude.

As they make their way back to the castle, he is greeted by the guards and the servants. Sam had returned several weeks prior with the remaining soldiers of Valentinia and he briefly recounts what has happened over the past Winter. The trio of friends have already located 13 Champions in Selene and are looking to expand their search beyond the city.

The two go to the study where they find Aletheia writing in a book. She greets them both and there is some awkwardness as she hugs John. Sam clears his throat and the two separate sheepishly. He thumbs through her writing and comments that it is coming along nicely. The Book is called the Champion Power Codices which details the known powers that they have discovered during the Winter. It is being compiled by the three of them using all currently know powers from various sources.

Aletheia is excited that they can begin looking beyond Selene now that the snow has melted. Morganyd and Shoshanna enter, proclaiming that they are here. They had traveled to Selene and have been working with the others to locate Champions within the city. Aletheia picks up the Celestial Mirror from a shelf and brings it out to everyone. It is the same mirror that John and Sam had seen on the altar during the Southern Crusades. John praises her work as she hands it to him.The three of them go to the balcony. John takes the Mirror and reflects the light of the Sun back into it and asks the Mirror to show them the Champions outside of the City. Several beams of light appear across the horizon. Each rises from the ground reaching high into the sky. John then says that they should probably get started.

Equinox (Time Jump):

Reflections leads to the time skip for John's story. It will be referred to as Equinox, and will be the period that will mostly be referenced but not explicitly shown. Flashbacks beyond this, if shown, will be episodic and self contained and only hinted or referenced later on. During this time, the three friends will begin to locate new Champions across the land to learn about and catalog the Powers of others. This will all compiled into the Champion Power Codices. The core group of 3 Ecliptics will expand and create The Champion Coalition. The details of this time period and the exploits of John and The Ecliptics are explained elsewhere. (see Ecliptic Equinox)
